Head Coach Billy Argo
Coach Argo is entering his 13th year as Head Baseball Coach at Assumption High School. A 1983 graduate of Assumption, Coach Argo was a member of the Mississippi Eight Conference and State Championship baseball and basketball teams of 1982. Coach Argo was named a First Team All State catcher in both 1982 and 1983. He went on to play college baseball at Iowa State University from 1984-1987 and was named a Team Captain his senior year. He was a 32nd round draft pick of the Los Angeles Dodgers in June of 1987, and played three minor league seasons before being released after the 1989 season.
Coach Argo's coaching career began as a graduate assistant at the University of Iowa during the 1991 and 1992 seasons. He also coached Davenport American Legion Post #26 during the summers of 1991-1993 and the 1993 team claimed an American Legion state title and advanced to the regional at Jamestown, ND. He continued his coaching at St. Ambrose University as an assistant coach during the 1993-1994 seasons and the 1997-1998 seasons. The 1994 team competed in the NAIA World Series and finished 3rd.
Coach Argo began coaching at Assumption in 1998 at the Head Sophomore Coach and took over the Varsity position in 2001. Since then his teams have compiled a 326-124 record including 4 MAC Titles (2002, 2003, 2006, 2009), 6 State Tournament appearances, 5 State Finals appearances (2002, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008), and 3 State Championships (2004, 2006, 2008).
Personal
Billy is married to the Kathleen Wolfe (AHS '83) and together they have 6 children, Willie (AHS '08), Tommy (AHS '11), Ellie (AHS '12), Joe - Freshman at AHS, Annie - 7th grade at All Saints, and John - 3rd grade at All Saints.
