The English department offers Freshman English, Freshman Honors English, Sophomore English, Sophomore Honors English, Junior English, Junior Honors English, Senior English, Advanced Placement English, Speech: Introduction to Communication, Publications I, and Publications II. These classes prepare students to be successful in college-level writing and reading.
Amy McGuire is a 1988 graduate of Assumption and a 4th year teacher at Assumption. She previously taught at St. Paul’s School for 10 years before working at Assumption for three years as the Director of Admissions. She is married to Sean (AHS ‘89), and has two children, both attending St. Paul’s School.

Lynn Day teaches in the AHS English Department. She has a BA in English and Spanish, and a Masters in Educational Administration. She and her husband, Chad Steimle, have four children: Colleen, a 2010 AHS graduate and college freshman, Tom a junior at AHS, Kirsten in 8th grade, and Caitlin in 6th grade at JFK.
