Frequently Asked Questions
Lettering Policy
At Assumption we believe that setting high goals is essential for success and we expect our athletes to compete with the best year in and year out. For this reason, we have lettering standards more difficult than any other school in the Mississippi Athletic Conference. There are any number of ways to earn a varisty letter with the first requirement being a minimum 95% attendance rate at practice. The second requirement can be fullfilled by any of the following:1) Score at either the indoor or outdoor MAC conference meet. This translates to placing in the top 6 at the women's meet or in the top 8 at the men's meet. Individual and relay events both apply.2) Be a senior that has competed all 4 years.3) Run, throw or jump the "varsity standard."

Missed Practice
It is expected that from time to time everyone will miss a practice. Acceptable reasons for missed practice include 1) certain school activities 2) family emergency 3) illness (did not attend school) and 4) injuries (as determined by a doctor or AHS trainer). Unacceptable reasons for missed practice include 1) homework or tests (you can arrange to come early or late, but you must come to practice) 2) doctor or dentist appointments (please try to schedule around practice times) and 3) feeling poorly but still attended school (if need be, the workout can be adjusted but again, you must come to practice).
Practice Times
Practices will be held at the North High School track located directly behind the school at 5 o'clock daily. Due to track availability issues, this time might vary slightly on occasion. The team will be notified in advance of any changes and an announcement will be made at school. If you will not be attending practice you need to notify one of the coaching staff by phone or in person at least 1 hour prior to the start of practice. Sending a message with a friend or e-mailing are unacceptable forms of communication in this instance.
Physicals
If you have not already had a physical for a previous sport you need to take care of this issue prior to the start of the first day of practice. Without a physical you are ineligable to compete and will not be allowed to practice. If you have further questions about a required physical please call the Assumption High School athletic office.
