Founded by Assumption student Emily Carlin, the Art Club allows those who enjoy the visual arts to expand their participation beyond the classroom. Activities include after-school meetings to do art, the annual Art in the Courtyard event, and visits to museums. Students select various media, from paint to clay.

Chess Club members are able to satisfy their thirst for competition through matches and tournaments, often taking place during homeroom. There is plenty of room for both avid chess players and beginners; the Chess Club to date keeps its competition within Assumption walls.

Students taking French classes at AHS may want to expand their knowledge of the French culture by joining French Club. Its main activities include selling carnations on Valentine's day, cooking and eating French dishes, and "round table" meetings where members converse in French.
Speech contests are a great way for students to improve their public speaking skills and gain some experience. There are many areas of competition, including individual, group, poetry, persuasive, and more. Regional winners may advance to the state level.
Students interested in our country's legal system should participate in Mock Trial. Members take on the roles of lawyers and witnesses and present cases before a "judge" at the competitions. Weeks of preparation lead up to a single day, when the team is judged on its presentation as the prosecution and as the defense. The 2006 Mock Trial team earned second place at the regional competition and thus advanced to the state level.
Each year, five students who have excelled in the sciences while at Assumption are invited to be members of the Science Bowl team. These players travel to Iowa State to compete in quiz-bowl style matches against other teams. The 2006 Science Bowl team set school precedent by advancing past the round-robin section and into bracket play after going undefeated in pool play.

Students who enjoy learning Spanish in class should try Spanish Club. Members often dine at area restaurants, where they speak Spanish with the staff and with each other. Several other projects have been organized by Spanish Club, such as collecting gifts for Toys for Tots.
