Assumption is hosting the 3A Solo and Ensemble Festival on Saturday, March 28. This event needs many volunteers to be successful, and the music department needs your help. This service hour opportunity is open to all students and we can offer service hours for your time.
We have opportunities on Friday after school for set up and all day on Saturday. Please let me know if you have questions or need help signing up.

The Assumption High School Choir will be teaming up with the top two choirs from the University of Iowa (Kantorei and University Choir) this Friday, February 28th for a special choral performance at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 422 E. 10th St., Davenport. This free, one-hour program will begin at 7:00 p.m., and will conclude a wonderful day of collaboration and master classes. Please join us for what will be a stunning program of music.!
This year’s spring musical will be Disney’s Freaky Friday! Auditions and tech sign up will be held Wednesday, January 8th in the choir room – we hope to see many of you there! Please see below for additional information, and feel free to contact Mrs. King Powers or Mr. Loes with any questions.

On Sunday, December 8th, 10 members of the Assumption Choir traveled out to St. Peter in Buffalo to sing for their 10:00 Mass. This marked the first time members of the choir have visited St. Peter, and they were very thankful for the warm reception and hospitality.
Please join the Assumption Choir as they present their Christmas Concert on Monday, December 16th, at 7:00 p.m. in Sacred Heart Cathedral. This free, 40 min. program will feature classic and familiar Christmas songs and carols the whole family will enjoy.
Make sure you find time during the Thanksgiving break to check out the fabulous art display at Festival of Trees in the RiverCenter in Downtown Davenport. Assumption art students work, along with other Iowa and Illinois High School art will be displayed as well as all the other great designed Christmas trees, doors, wreaths, ornaments and other holiday goodies. The Festival of Trees runs from November 23 through December 1. This fund-raiser supports the arts.
Assumption Choir visits St. Andrew Parish in Blue Grass
On Sunday, November 3rd the Assumption Choir visited Blue Grass and sang for Mass at St. Andrew Parish. Many thanks to the staff and parishioners of the parish for being so welcoming and accommodating!
Iowa All-State Chorus
Three Assumption vocalists were accepted to the 2019 Iowa All-State Chorus, and include Madeline Murphy ’21 (Soprano 2), Annette Baker ’21 (Soprano 1), and Bailey Lehnert ’22 (Soprano 1). Their acceptance represents the first time an Assumption singer has been chosen for the chorus since 2000, and they are now the 9th, 10th, and 11th students ever to be selected for the All-State Chorus. The 73rd Annual All-State Music Festival will take place in Hilton Coliseum on the Iowa State University campus on November 22nd and 23rd, and will conclude with a concert at 7:30 p.m. on November 23rd. The festival will be recorded and broadcast on Iowa Public Television. Please check the IPTV website (iptv.org) for exact times and dates.
