Assumption Choir Presents Fall Concert
Come and enjoy the Assumption High School Choir’s Fall Concert Tuesday, October 22nd at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Davenport. This 30 minute program will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will be followed with some light refreshments. See you there!
Assumption Choir Records Christmas Selections
“Hello Quad Cities!” The Assumption Choir recently recorded three Christmas selections with KWQC, and the songs will air on Channel 6 sometime in December. A schedule will be released when it becomes available.
Assumption Choir Members to sing at Lourdes’ Fall Festival –
11 members of the Assumption Choir will be helping to entertain participants of Our Lady of Lourdes’ Fall Festival on this Saturday, September 21st. The students will be singing at 6:30 p.m. in the gym. Come support these students and the members of Our Lady of Lourdes in Bettendorf!
This week students in grades 5, 6, 7, and 8 participated in our music camp, having played in the band and/or singing in the choir. Pictured are the members of the choir. Great work this week, kids!
Members of the Assumption Choir and Band enjoyed a trip to Kansas City at the end of March. The band had a clinic at Kansas City Community College, the choir had a clinic with renowned choral conductor, Charles Bruffy, and the choir sang for Mass at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. The students also visited the National WWI Museum, the American Jazz Museum, and enjoyed performances by the Kansas City Symphony and Chorus, as well as, the Manhattan Transfer and Take 6.

- A public concert for friends and family in Assumption’s Sunderbruch Auditorium will be held on Thursday, June 13 at 6:30 p.m.

The Knight Notation Jazz Choir participated in the Solon Vocal Jazz Festival in Solon, Iowa on February 15th. The ensemble peformed well and received a score that was 35 points higher than last year’s score. Congratulations, Knight Notation! Ensemble members include: Nathan Seutter ‘19, Madeline Murphy ’21, Kelly Anzola ’19, Abby Schauer ’19, Jon Herrington ’19, and Melanie Comer ’19.
Congratulations to soprano Abigail Schauer ’19 on her selection to participate in the Iowa State Honor Choir in Ames on February 10th and 11th. She was 1 of only 100 singers from across the state selected to participate. Way to go Abby!
Many thanks to the 20 members of the Assumption Choir who braved the weather to sing at the Red Dinner Mass at Sacred Heart Cathedral on February 7th. They sang beautifully, and it was an honor to sing for Bishop Thomas Zinkula, Bishop Emertitus Martin Amos, Bishop Richard Pates of Des Moines, and Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York.
Congratulations to the Assumption jazz choir, Knight Notation! On February 4th they attended the IHSMA State Jazz Choir Festival at North Scott H. S. in Eldridge and earned a Division 1 rating from all three judges. On February 15th they will participate in the Solon Vocal Jazz Festival at Solon H. S. in Solon, IA. The members include Nathan Seutter ’19, Madeline Murphy ’21, Abby Schauer ’19, Jon Herrington ’19, Kelly Anzola ’19, and Melanie Comer ’19.
Congratulations Melanie Comer and Allison Smith on their selection and participation in the 2019 Meistersinger Honor Choir at Wartburg College. They spent two days rehearsing, listening to choral performances, and singing in a concert.
