Volleyball Attendance Guidelines for Spectators

Dear Assumption Community,

As we head into our fall competition seasons, I would like to visit with our community about the guidelines and expectations we have for our home volleyball contests.  We will be expecting everyone that attends our games to follow all guidelines as set by the IGHSAU.  We will discontinue selling admission if we feel the capacity has reached a level where these guidelines cannot be met.

We will have one section of bleachers available for player’s family seating. All students must view the game from the upper level. Chairs are available to use on the upper balconies. Please maintain 6 feet of separation when using these chairs.

Guidelines:

  • Those in attendance are asked/expected to socially distance whenever possible and consider wearing a face covering when this is not possible.
  • Anyone that is sick or is experiencing any symptoms should not attend.  Also, please do not attend if you have recently been around anyone that has tested positive in the past 2 weeks.
  • Fans must maintain social distance from all players, coaches and officials.

We will not have any concessions available for our first contest on Tuesday, August 25th vs. Davenport West. We will allow personal water bottles and food/drink within reason. We will make adjustments to our guideline if necessary for future games.

We certainly want our parents, students and fans to enjoy our athletic contests, but please understand the individual responsibilities of attending Assumption Athletic events.  Good Luck to all participants and Let’s Go Knights!

Wade King
Athletic Director

2020 Assumption Football Locker Room Procedures

Fresh/Soph Football
Practice
Members of the Freshmen/Sophomore Football team will be allowed to drop off all of their pads, helmet, shoes and gear prior to the start of the school day or may keep them in their car if they drive. Anything other than shoulder pads, helmets and shoes that are left in the locker room during the day must be bagged up. If you have a large bag, it is suggested you bag all of your gear.

Players may change in the locker room after school. All gear and clothing must be removed from the locker room before going to practice. It can be stored at practice or be placed in their car during practice. Following practice, all players will leave with all of their gear and equipment. Nothing may be left overnight and items will be thrown out if left.

No showering will be allowed following practice in the locker room but it is expected that players will shower immediately upon arriving at home after practice.

Requirement – Helmets & shoulder pad shells and shoes must be disinfected following each practice. Freshmen/Sophomore players are responsible to get this done after every practice.

Games
For games we will allow the Freshmen/Sophomore team to leave their clothes in the locker room during the game and they can remove them after they return. They will have a very limited time to shower and change when they return. They may also travel home with their parents following the game. We will always dress at Assumption before leaving for away games.

Varsity
Practice
The Varsity Football team will be assigned a locker or an area in the varsity football building. Players may leave their gear in their locker/area when they arrive in the morning as long as it is bagged or they may leave their gear in their cars. Varsity players may leave their helmets, shoulder pads & shoes in their locker/area after practice but everything else must be taken and nothing else can be left overnight.

No showering will be allowed following practice in the locker room but it is expected that players will shower immediately upon arriving at home after practice.

Requirement – If players take their helmets, shoulder pads and shoes, they are responsible to disinfect them prior to the next practice. Helmets, shoulder pads and shoes left in the locker room will be disinfected by the coaching staff.

Games
The Varsity will always change at Assumption prior to leaving for all games. Players will be allowed to shower following games at Assumption. Again, all individual gear other than helmets, shoulder pads and shoes must be removed when players leave the locker room.

Thank you for your cooperation!

2020 Century Club Membership and Steak Fry

Dear Assumption Family and Friends,

We would like to invite you to become a member of this year’s Assumption Century Club. Under normal circumstances, we would be announcing and inviting you to our Annual Steak Fry and Coach’s Program, however, for just this year we have had to change plans due to COVID 19 to ensure everyone’s health and safety. With that in mind, the Century Club has decided to change things up for just this year.

We will be having a Burger Basket pick-up or Stop, Eat and Chat event on August 21, 2020, from 6-8 p.m. Given the format for this year, there will be no Coach’s Program. We hope everyone understands and will either drive thru and pick-up a burger basket or stop, eat and chat.

We will have masks and hand sanitizer available for those who stop, eat and chat. We need your support this year more than ever. We will also be passing out a special AHS gift for all those attending as a thank you from the Century Club.

This event is free to all Century Club members. This event has been a great Assumption tradition for over thirty (30) years and a fun way to kick off the upcoming seasons for all sports programs.

The Century Club’s sole mission is to provide financial assistance to the AHS girls’ and boys’ athletic programs. Each year the Century Club helps support all of our team sports by funding new equipment, special projects and facility improvements. Last year alone the Century Club provided in excess of $10,000.00 in financial assistance to Assumption’s Athletic Programs.

Our AHS Athletic Programs enjoyed continued success this past 2019-2020 school year. We had the girls volleyball and basketball teams make it to the State Tournament. Last summer the softball team won its third straight State Championship and the baseball team qualified for the State tournament. In addition, as of this writing the baseball team just clinched another MAC conference title! Numerous other AHS programs and individual athletes had outstanding seasons this past year. Your membership dues directly assist our athletes with accomplishing these amazing achievements.

PLEASE CONSIDER BECOMING A CENTURY CLUB MEMBER. The “Century” in our name signifies the amount of the annual dues – $100.00. However, a growing number of AHS supporters are choosing to become “Gold Members” for $200.00. Membership dues are TAX DEDUCTIBLE*.

We strive to have a broad base of support across the AHS community, so either amount is greatly appreciated. To become a member of the Century Club, we ask that you complete the attached CENTURY CLUB MEMBERSHIP FORM and return the completed form, along with your dues, to: Assumption High School, Attention: Century Club, 1020 West Central Park Avenue, Davenport, Iowa 52804. Checks should be made payable to “AHS Century Club”. If you have a student, you can elect to pay your dues as part of your school registration. Please see Membership Form for online payment option (convenience fee charged) as well!

Thank you for your support of our strong athletic tradition at Assumption!
