Girl’s Wrestling – Informational Meeting – Friday, October 6
There will be an informational meeting held in the AHS wrestling room on Friday, October 6 at 3:30 pm for anyone interested in Girls Wrestling with Coach Dustin G.
Dustin Gieselman Named Head Girls Wrestling Coach
Assumption High School is pleased to announce Dustin Gieselman as Head Girls Wrestling Coach for the 2022-23 season. He will be the first person to lead the new girls wrestling program that will launch this winter.
A native of West Burlington, Gieselman has previously worked with Knights wrestlers, including Iowa State Champions Julien Broderson (Iowa State) and Matt Robertson (St. Ambrose), as an assistant coach for the past five seasons under head coaches Pete Bush, Jon Terronez, and now Sonny Alvarez.
Prior to his time at Assumption, he made coaching stops at Mt. Pleasant, New London, and Davenport West high schools, where he coached multiple state qualifiers.
As a student-athlete competing for West Burlington-Notre Dame, Gieselman had a career record of 129-25 on the mat and was a two-time state medalist for the Falcons. He went on to wrestle at Iowa Central Community College, helping the Tritons to NJCAA National Championships in 2008 and 2009.
The Knights Girls Wrestling program will begin practice on October 31 and compete in the 2023 Iowa Girls State Tournament set for Feb. 2-3 at Xtream Arena in Coralville.
