Iowa American Water’s Summer Career Exploration Program
Meet Our Cheerleading Coach
Hello! My name is Sylvia Reyes, and I previously served as a cheerleading coach at Moline High School for three years. However, Assumption has always held a special place in my heart. I am incredibly honored and excited to return to Assumption High School — this time as the new cheerleading coach at the very place that helped shape who I am today.
I am a proud member of the Class of 1997 and a former Assumption cheerleader. I also have a son who will be an incoming freshman at AHS this coming school year, making this opportunity even more meaningful for my family and me.
I am passionate about building a program that promotes teamwork, confidence, leadership, and school spirit both on and off the sidelines. I look forward to working with our athletes, supporting our school community, and helping each cheerleader grow in both skill and character.
Go Knights! ❤️🤍

Student Voices Go Live!
We’re excited to share that some of our students have been hard at work creating, editing, and recording their very own podcast—sponsored by our local Catholic radio station!
With a mission to connect and inspire the Catholic teen and young adult community, their voices are now being heard far beyond our school.
✨ The podcast is officially LIVE on major platforms—be sure to listen, support, and share!
Assumption Academic Decathlon Team Shines at State Competition

The Davenport Assumption High School Academic Decathlon team proudly represented our school at the Iowa Academic Decathlon State Competition, held March 5–6, 2026, at Saydel High School. This year’s theme, “The Roaring Twenties,” challenged students with rigorous tests in ten events including Art, Economics, Essay, Interview, Literature, Math, Music, Science, Social Science, and Speech, plus the exciting Super Quiz Relay.
Our students delivered outstanding individual performances and earned several medals against stiff competition from across the state.
Our team includes Declan Murphy, Noah Fetterer, Elijah Milton, Evan Wilson, and Natalie Stombaugh in the Honors category. Ryan Bang and Devin Diaz in the Scholastic category, & Trevor Gray, King Goodwin, and James Zeller in the Varsity category. This year, we took Declan, Noah, Elijah, Ryan, Devin, and James to State.
We are especially proud to celebrate the following medalists:
• Declan Murphy earned an impressive four medals in the Honor division: gold in Literature, gold in Math, bronze in Economics, and bronze overall.
• Elijah Milton took home gold in Essay (Honor division).
• Ryan Bang won silver in Math (Scholastic division).
• James Zeller earned silver in Math (Varsity division).
These achievements reflect the dedication, hard work, and academic excellence of our student competitors.
Congratulations to all our Academic Decathlon participants! We are proud of your efforts and look forward to continued success in future competition.
Our Academic Decathlon club is open to all AHS students and helps develop critical thinking, public speaking, and deep content knowledge that will serve students well beyond high school. Anyone who wishes to join can come to our first meeting next September!

April Knight of Gratitude Donation Drive
We need your help! Please consider assisting us with this year’s April Knight of Gratitude fundraising event. In lieu of an auction and raffle, this year we are asking students to spread the good news about all we have to be grateful for here at AHS. We are hoping they will offer friends and family members the encouragement to support our Catholic school mission through a tax-deductible gift to our school. Please grab some of the available April Knight of Gratitude donation envelopes from either your Homeroom teacher or the Front Office. We have so much to be grateful for here at AHS, and it is through the help of many that our programming is made possible!
Please see the attached poster for student incentives for donation collections. Weekly grade-level out-of-uniforms and homeroom ice cream are on the table. Additionally – one $500 grand prize winner will be drawn at the April Knight of Gratitude event on Wednesday, April 29, 6-9pm, at the Hotel Blackhawk Gold Room.
Thanks so much for assisting us with this effort!
Mrs. Murphy
