Girls Basketball Alumni Game – Jan. 18 vs. Alleman

All former Assumption Girls Basketball players are invited to attend the Knights’ game vs. Alleman on Saturday, January 18. Please see the message below from Head Coach Katelyn McNamara:

Dear Lady Knight Basketball Alumnae,

You’re invited to help the Assumption Girls Basketball Program celebrate its tradition of excellence that you have helped create! Our basketball program has so much to be proud of, and we would like to take a moment to recognize our former Lady Knights.

On Saturday, January 18, the girls basketball program will play a game at home vs. Alleman High School. The varsity girls’ game will begin at 2:30pm with the JV girls kicking things off at 1:00pm.

At halftime of the varsity girls’ game, Lady Knight alumna Julie Fitzpatrick will speak on behalf of the program. Many of you are aware of the Girls Basketball Scholarship that has been created to financially support girls basketball players who are in good standing both on the court and in the classroom. This endowed scholarship, established in 2009, has supported many young women and their families who give so much to our Assumption community. Perhaps you were one of them! We are so grateful for the families who makes sacrifices so their daughters can receive a Catholic education, and we appreciate your support in helping relieve some of the financial burden. With your generosity, there will be many other young women who will have the opportunity to represent the girls’ basketball program with pride just as you have been able to do!

Our Future Lady Knights will also be at the game, so this is an extra-special event with former, current, and future Lady Knights in attendance! After the varsity game, there will be a gathering at Rookies Sports Bar in Davenport for all Lady Knight supporters and players – past, present, and future. We would love to visit with you! If you cannot make it to the game or the gathering, but would like to support the scholarship, please contact me or donate online at the link at the bottom of this letter.

We hope that you can mark your calendars for January 18, 2020. The girls in our program continue to make us proud every day, and I’m sure you will find that the pride and commitment these girls have to representing you and their Assumption community is strong as ever. There is no place like Assumption!

Go Knights! One in the Spirit,

Head Coach Katelyn McNamara

2019 Fr. Ken Martin Memorial Golf Outing – Aug. 28

2019 Booster Club Golf Outing Aug. 9 at Emeis G.C.

The 2019 Assumption Booster Club Golf Outing will be held on Friday, August 9, at Emeis Golf Course in Davenport. The annual golf outing is one of the Booster Club’s major fundraisers and helps the group continue to provide support to Assumption athletics.

This year’s event is dedicated to Sue and Jack McCabe. Sue and Jack were great advocates for Catholic education in Davenport. Jack was a 1943 graduate of St. Ambrose Academy. Jack and Sue’s five children are all proud graduates of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Grade School and Assumption High School: John McCabe ’66, Susie Collins Hentschel ’67, Bob McCabe ’70, Mike McCabe ’74, and Ann Lucas ’76.
