Back Stage Angel Meeting – Drama Parents

Back Stage Angels are a group of drama parents who take care of many needs of our Assumption Knight Players throughout their season!

Please plan on joining us for a meeting in the AHS Choir Room on November 16th, at 7pm to learn more about ways we can make the season special for our thespians.  Our drama directors will be in attendance as well.

Service Opportunity – The All Saints Catholic School and Holy Family Church Christmas Bazar

The All Saints Catholic School and Holy Family Church Bazaar will be coming up on November 5th & 6th and we need your help. The bazaar is a big fundraiser for our school and donations of items for the bake sale are needed as well as volunteers. For more information contact Cassandra Collum at c00sage@gmail.com.

  1. DONATIONS: Bake sale items (including gluten free and sugar-free items welcomed), craft items and Once Again Treasure items (Treasure items are gently used items for regifting, but not clothing). Craft and Treasure items can be dropped off anytime at the school or church offices or at Bazaar Workshops on Wednesdays from 9:00-11 a.m. or 6:30-8 p.m. in Enright Hall. Bake sale items should be brought to the school Friday, Nov. 4th between 12-6 p.m.
  2. BAKE SALE:  Volunteers are needed to price items from 3-6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4th and to work the bake sale area on Saturday, Nov. 5th from 7:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. and Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  3. Checkout/Cashier: Volunteers are needed to work the checkout area on Saturday, Nov. 5th from 7:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. and Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  4. Kitchen: Volunteers are needed to work the kitchen area on Saturday, Nov. 5th from 7:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. and Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Assumption Knight Players Present The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) [revised] [again]

12 actors, all alike in dignity, in fair Sunderbruch Auditorium, where we perform 37 plays in 90 minutes! Join the Assumption Knight Players on October 14 and 15 at 7 PM and on October 16 at 2 PM for our fall play, THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (ABRIDGED) [REVISED] [AGAIN]. The cultural touchstone that is THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (ABRIDGED) was born when three inspired, charismatic comics, having honed their pass-the-hat act at Renaissance fairs, premiered their preposterous masterwork at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 1987. It quickly became a worldwide phenomenon, earning the title of London’s longest-running comedy after a decade at the Criterion Theatre. THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (ABRIDGED) is one of the world’s most frequently produced plays and has been translated into several dozen languages. Featured are all 37 of Shakespeare’s plays, meant to be performed in 97 minutes. Fast paced, witty, and physical, it’s full of laughter for Shakespeare lovers and haters alike. Tyler Edwards Named Head Softball Coach

Assumption High School is pleased to announce the hiring of Tyler Edwards as Head Softball Coach for the 2023 season. Edwards, an assistant coach last season for the 2022 State Runner-up Knights, inherits a Knights program that has gone 262-29-1 over the last seven seasons with four Iowa Class 3A State titles (2017, 2018, 2019, 2021) and three top three finishes.

A native of Muscatine, Edwards was an all-conference catcher for the Muskies in 2002, and went on to play baseball at St. Ambrose in Davenport the following year. He graduated from SAU in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Marketing.

Edwards has been a head coach with the Future Lady Knights Softball youth program for the past four years, and led Assumption’s junior varsity and freshman squads this past summer.

Outside of softball, he has also been involved with the school board at Lourdes Catholic School in Bettendorf, and he and his wife, Amber, have three children.

The Lady Knights Softball program will officially begin practice on May 1.

Senior Picnic – Sunday, August 14 – Reminder

In an effort to celebrate our incoming senior class and pray for their leadership in the coming school year, all seniors and their parents/guardians will join for a potluck in the school cafeteria on Sunday, August 14th, from 5:00-6:30 p.m. Families with last names beginning with A-M are asked to bring a side dish to share and N-Z a dessert. Deli sandwiches will be provided by AHS. Dress is casual. We invite seniors and their parents to please join this gathering as we kick-off the year with a blessing of the Class of 2023!
