Many thanks to the 20 members of the Assumption Choir who braved the weather to sing at the Red Dinner Mass at Sacred Heart Cathedral on February 7th. They sang beautifully, and it was an honor to sing for Bishop Thomas Zinkula, Bishop Emertitus Martin Amos, Bishop Richard Pates of Des Moines, and Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York.
Congratulations to the Assumption jazz choir, Knight Notation! On February 4th they attended the IHSMA State Jazz Choir Festival at North Scott H. S. in Eldridge and earned a Division 1 rating from all three judges. On February 15th they will participate in the Solon Vocal Jazz Festival at Solon H. S. in Solon, IA. The members include Nathan Seutter ’19, Madeline Murphy ’21, Abby Schauer ’19, Jon Herrington ’19, Kelly Anzola ’19, and Melanie Comer ’19.
Congratulations Melanie Comer and Allison Smith on their selection and participation in the 2019 Meistersinger Honor Choir at Wartburg College. They spent two days rehearsing, listening to choral performances, and singing in a concert. There will be no evening or afternoon Honor Choir Performances.
Congratulations to the five choral students selected to participate in the 2019 Dorian Vocal Festival at Luther College: Jon Herrington ’19, Allison Smith ’19, Melanie Comer ’19, Kelly Anzola ’19, and Jack Scordato ’19. Mr. Herrington was also selected to sing in the Chamber Choir. These students spent 2-3 days rehearsing, taking part in voice lessons with faculty members, listening to performances, and singing in a concert. The Assumption Choir will be singing at the 10:30 a.m. Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes in Bettendorf this Sunday, December 3rd. Come celebrate the First Sunday of Advent with these dedicated members of the Assumption family.
The Music Boosters will be holding a meeting this Thursday, November 9th at 6:00 PM in the Choir Room. Mr. Craig and Mrs. Murphy will also be in attendance to discuss the current state of fundraising.
Congratulations to 8 freshmen choir students who participated in the Singfest Honor Choir at Central College in Pella on October 3rd. Those students include Amanda Herrington, Anita Ngo, Annette Baker, Yuliana Marceleno, Sean Thompson and McKayne Morrison.
