The MVSTO was created through the Educational Opportunities Act. Signed into law on June 2, 2006, the act allows Iowa taxpayers contributing to School Tuition Organizations throughout the state to claim a 65% direct tax credit against Iowa income taxes.
In 2020, the MVSTO is able to accept donations in excess of $1,324,000! The MVSTO welcomes gifts in the form of cash or marketable securities* from private donors as well as LLCs, Subchapter S Corps, and C Corps.
