Prayer Group Invites All on Thursday Mornings

The entire Assumption family (parents, grandparents, alumni, etc.) is invited to gather in the AHS Chapel for prayer each Thursday morning at 9 a.m. Those in attendance will pray for the students (each by name, one class per week), and their intentions (prayer boxes are available in several of the teachers’ rooms), along with intentions for the entire AHS community. Each prayer session is concluded by the group praying the Rosary together.

Those wishing to attend should enter AHS through the Main Entrance, register in the Front Office, and proceed to the Chapel. Please contact Joanie Vonderhaar at 563-505-5420 with any questions. Prayer requests may be sent to: AHSprayers@gmail.com

Career Cruising Information

Assumption High School is very excited to announce a new program called Career Cruising. Career Cruising is a self-exploration and planning program designed to help students achieve their potential in school, career and life.

Career Cruising will…

BUILD SELF AWARENESS

Students will learn about themselves—their interests, skills, preferences and aspirations—so they can explore the opportunities right for them.

EXPLORE OPTIONS

You will learn about career possibilities and educational pathways by exploring rich, engaging content.

CREATE A PLAN

A dynamic, actionable plan outlines the steps needed to achieve career, school and life goals.

MAKE IT REAL

Plans are then brought to life—whether for a career, job or college—by taking informed action.

To use Career Cruising go to www.careercruising.com. Sign into your account that has set been set up specifically for you.

Log In:

Username: SCCS-(your first name).(your last name)  Example: SCCS-john.doe

If you have any questions on career and/or college planning please contact Mrs. Day in Student Services or email her at lynn.day@assumptionhigh.org.

Art Club Meeting

We will not meet on Monday this week, but plan on Tuesday after school. We will finalize plans to assemble the tree at the RiverCenter on Sunday November 12th.

Anyone wanting to design a mask for the tree, and can’t make the meeting, please stop by and get one.

Teen Knight – Saturday, November 4th

This Saturday, November 4th, in the AHS Cafeteria & Small Gym, is our annual Teen Knight. We collaborate with Hand-in-Hand and offer a fun night for the special needs teens from our community. We offer games, crafts, karaoke, dancing, and sports activities. We need student volunteers to run the different “stations”.

Set up begins at 5:00 PM, the event runs from 6-10  PM, clean up will go no-later than 10:15 PM.

We currently have 28 teens and their aids coming on Saturday, and we are in serious need of more volunteers.

Please consider this great opportunity to interact with kids from the community and receive 5 plus service hours in the process!

If you are signed-up (in Mrs. Imborek’s Room), please remember to contact Grace about your activity supply list, and bring an 8 pack of pre-packaged food/juice boxes to the event for the snack table.

Sacred Heart Clothing Center

The Clothing Center needs you! And your old and but nicely worn clothes. We are especially in need of girl’s fall/winter clothes size 5 to size 12.  Donations can be dropped off 24/7 at the shed to the right of the house located at 1119 LeClaire Street and right by Sacred Heart Cathedral. We are always looking for volunteers for sorting on Tuesdays from 9-noon or while open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9-noon. Please call or email if you are interested in volunteering: (563)362-0915 or clothingcenterqca@gmail.com.  Thank you!

Art Club

Art Club is again creating a Festival of Tree tree. Our theme has Mardi-Gras masks as ornaments. We are looking for gift cards, any kind, to put in one big mystery box under our tree. Please consider a contribution. All money from the sale of trees goes to non-profit Quad City Arts. They help fund art visits and activities for the schools in the Quad City area. We participate in their pastel competition every year.

Any student wanting to help create masks is welcome to join Art Club every Monday and Tuesday now through the week of November 11th. We will be assembling our tree November 12th.  Thanks!
