On June 11, 2026, the U.S. Catholic bishops consecrated the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus during a solemn liturgy at the Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe, marking the nation’s 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
The Sacred Heart consecration is a spiritual dedication, asking God to bless, protect, and guide the nation. The 2026 event also coincided with the Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus on June 12.
Families across the U.S. are encouraged to join in local celebrations, prayer, and acts of mercy. We encourage you to pray a prayer of consecration on this very special feast day with your family!
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus,
Fountain of mercy and source of all love,
look with compassion upon our nation.
Bless America with hearts renewed in faith,
minds guided by truth,
and hands eager to serve in justice and charity.
Protect our families, strengthen our leaders,
and inspire us to walk in the ways of peace.
May your light shine in every home,
your mercy heal every wound,
and your love unite us as one people under God.
Sacred Heart of Jesus,
we place our family in your care—
now and forever. Amen.
