What’s Happening at AHS
Freshman Formal
Assumption will again host a “Freshman Formal” on Saturday, November 11th, from 7:00-10:00 PM in the Assumption cafeteria. This non-dated dance is open only to 9th graders who attend Assumption High School. Attire is expected to be similar to Homecoming or Turnabout, with girls having the opportunity to wear semi-formal dresses of appropriate length and modesty, and boys wearing shirts and ties. (Any students who need assistance with acquiring the appropriate attire or with purchasing a ticket should see Mrs. Murphy or Mr. Frieden, as we have means in place to make sure that financial barriers will not prevent any student from attending this fun event.) Check-in will begin at 7:00 PM dinner (unlimited gourmet brick-oven pizzas) will be served all throughout the event, and music and dancing will be sure to keep the event enjoyable for all. Students needing to leave prior to 9:30 will need parent/guardian verbal (via phone) or written (via note or email) permission. Student Council members will be selling tickets during lunches on October 25, 26, and 27th, for $20 per person.

Please join us at the Knight Network Meeting – Wednesday, October 25th at 7:00 PM in the AHS Library. Monthly Teacher Treats – Senior Parent Volunteers Needed
It’s time again to show our love and support for the fabulous faculty and staff at AHS! Knight Network is providing teacher treats on Tuesday, October 24th. This time we are asking for Senior parent volunteers. Food donations can be dropped off in the AHS Front Office any time Tuesday morning after 7:00 AM. If you have a container you would like returned, please remember to label it. If you know what you plan to bring, please put that in the notes on the sign-up. Thank you so much for your support of our AHS Community.
Parking Stickers
Parking stickers need to be in the car window. If your student did not get one assigned to them during Registration, please have them stop in the Front Office to pick up a sticker. If your student could be driving more than one vehicle, please have them get an additional sticker. If you have not gone into the “Student Information Update” on the AHS web site to register your vehicles, please do so as soon as possible. The stickers should be placed in the back window on the driver’s side, down low. If you have any questions, please contact Shelli Miller at miller@assumptionhigh.org or 563-326-5313, ext. 200.

FAFSA Information for Seniors
If you are planning to go to college next year, there are some important changes in the financial aid process that you should know about. Students can file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or the FAFSA, starting on October 1st — which means the form is available NOW. Every college has its own deadline for the FAFSA, so check in with the schools you applied to and make sure you don’t miss that date. Filing the FAFSA early means you have more time to make your final decisions about where you’re going to school, so get your FAFSA filed ASAP. See the school counselor’s office if you need help or have questions.
