What’s Happening at AHS

Drama Kick-Off Event

A drama kick-off event will be held in the auditorium on Friday, September 3rd, at 3:30pm. Any students who are interested in participating in drama for the 2021-2022 school year are invited to attend this event to learn and discuss the coming year. Students will get to meet Ms. Stephanie DeLacy, our new Drama Director, as well as the drama officers for the year.

Host Family Opportunities

Assumption High School is blessed to receive inquiries from various potential international students. Though Assumption does not directly facilitate arranging host family partnerships for students, we want to make you aware that we have a number of potential international students from a variety of countries needing host families for the 2021-2022 school year. If interested, or if you have any questions, please contact: Stephanie Schroeder, Director of Admissions, at stephanie.schroeder@assumptionhigh.org or 563-326-5313, extension 230.  She will put you in contact with the appropriate agency representative who can share more information about requirements for host families and the associated monthly compensation for hosting a student.  Thanks for your potential interest in this wonderful opportunity for your family and our school community!

Senior Blessing and Potluck Reminder

We hope to see all members of the Class of 2022, along with their parents/guardians this Sunday night, August 15th, for the annual potluck and Blessing of the Senior Class.  This back-to-school event will be in the AHS Cafeteria from 5-6:30 PM.  Families with last names beginning with A-M are asked to bring a side dish to share, and N-Z a dessert. Deli sandwiches will be provided by AHS. Dress is casual. We invite seniors and parents/guardians to please join this gathering as we kick-off the year with a blessing of the Class of 2022!

Freshman and New Student Orientation Reminder

Orientation will be held Tuesday, August 17th, and all incoming freshmen and new/transfer students are required to be present from 2-5pm. Students are asked to be in dress code for orientation. The student-only portion of the day will be devoted to meeting teachers, learning student schedules, accessing lockers, and familiarizing students with lunch procedures. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to arrive at 5:00pm for an opportunity to get more parent-directed orientation information in the AHS Auditorium. This evening portion is intended for students and their parents to have the opportunity to not only feel comfortable with a variety of school personnel but to also connect with future classmates and their families. A picnic dinner will be provided by AHS in the school cafeteria following the parent presentation. Contact Mrs. Stephanie Schroeder, Director of Admissions, at stephanie.schroeder@assumptionhigh.org if you have any questions.
