What’s Happening at AHS
Parent/Teacher Conferences – Thursday, September 24th – 3:30-7:00 – Cafe
Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, September 24th in the Cafeteria from 3:30-7:00 PM. Parents can come to the Café during that time to meet with their students’ teachers. No appointment is necessary, as conferences are held on a drop-in basis. Individual meetings will be conducted every 5 minutes, as indicated by the bell system in the Café. Parents anticipating the need for more extensive communication with a particular instructor are encouraged to contact the teacher directly to set up an appointment outside of conferences.
AHS Parent Prayer Group

This Thursday the AHS Prayer Group gathered at 9AM in the Chapel. We prayed for the Senior Class, lifted the many prayer requests submitted by the students, enjoyed a pop-in visit by a few students during passing time and ended our gathering by praying the Luminous Mysteries of the rosary.
The AHS Prayer Group gathers each Thursday @ 9 AM in the AHS Chapel or weather permitting in the Faculty Parking Lot (please bring a chair). This a unique and special prayer opportunity. Parents, grandparents, alumni, etc. are all invited. We pray for the students (each by name, one class per week), pray for the students’ intentions (prayer boxes are available in several of the teachers’ rooms), intentions for our entire AHS community, and then conclude praying the Rosary together. Come as you are and come when you are able and your schedule allows. Although many of you may work during the day and may not be able to join us, please know, we are happy to lift any intentions you may have and we ask that you remember our prayer gathering and join us in spirit.

2020 Father Martin Golf Outing – August 26
Wednesday, August 26, 2020, at Emeis Golf Course
With the uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus, this year’s event will be a golf outing only.
This event honors Father Ken Martin, an avid golfer and special friend. Upon his death, he left $1,000 for his golfing buddies to have an outing, and they decided to honor “Father Kenny” by creating this annual event.
Through the years this outing has raised over $300,000 to benefit Scott County K-12 Catholic school students through emergency scholarship grants. Your donation will help children to continue their Catholic school education in spite of their family’s current financial crisis.
Please join us for this charity event! SIGN UP EARLY as space is limited for this event! Based upon past successes, the slots will fill early. DOWNLOAD and mail in the registration form here.
RESERVATIONS include golf, cart, prizes, and refreshments on the course.

Support Schools Choice Now Act! Contact your Representative Today!
Please take a moment to contact your Members of Congress to ask that they support the School Choice Now Act and insert the legislation into the next COVID relief bill.
We believe public and private school students must be given the resources for success and are therefore asking Congress to set aside 10 percent of any new COVID-19 education funding for emergency grants to low- and middle-income private school families. This percentage is consistent with the overall population of K-12 students educated in private schools.
And with continued uncertainty ahead, Congress should pair these one-time emergency grants with a comprehensive federal tax credit that will generate new education funds for children long term.
The pandemic has seriously impacted public and private school children equally. But thousands of private schools are now in danger of closing if Congress doesn’t act.
If that happens, it will be a tragedy for children, families and communities. It will also be financially devastating to school districts who would have to absorb hundreds of thousands, if not more than million, private school students. This will cost taxpayers billions of dollars.
Our nonpublic schools and the families they serve should be included in the COVID-19 relief legislation. Make your voice heard by contacting your Congressional members today. Thank you for your advocacy!
Congress must ensure the education of ALL children this fall. Click the link to log in and send your message: https://actnow.io/D0aEwC8
As always, we encourage you to include your personal story in the message to your legislators, as well.
