Weight Room Opens July 6 – Info and Rules for Athletes

The Weight Room will open for Assumption athletes beginning Monday, July 6.  Set hours and specific guidelines must be followed at all times. At this time, lifting sessions are for our returning students (grades 10-12). Incoming 9th graders will have an introductory unit for the Weight Room when school begins, or possibly later this summer.

All training sessions are limited to 24 athletes. Each session will consist of a 12–15 minute warm-up/plyo workout, 35-40 minute lift, and a 5 minute clean-up.

Once an athlete is placed in a session with a group of three or a partner, they will not be allowed to change sessions or training partners.  If an athlete cannot attend at their assigned time, they will not be able to attend that day.  We will assign baseball/softball players a session when their season is over if they are wanting to lift at Assumption.

Weight Room Sessions beginning July 6th – Every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday.  No Lifting on Wednesdays

  • All athletes must enter through the gym lobby and wash hands upon arrival.
  • All athletes must have their own hand sanitizer and drinking water/beverage. No water stations are available to use.
  • Athletes will all help clean their work station at the end of each workout.
  • Athletes must leave the weight room/gym area immediately following their session.
  • Parents or drivers dropping off or picking up athletes must remain in their car.
  • Attendance will be taken at all sessions. Do not attend if someone in your immediate family or someone you have had contact with has tested positive for Covid-19.
  • Maintain social distancing as much as possible.

As a reminder, the Weight Room and Open Gyms are for Assumption High School students only – all other athletes are prohibited from using Assumption facilities.

Session times will be updated as needed.

Support Scott County K-12 Catholic Schools – Contact your Representative

Please take a moment to contact your Members of Congress to ask that emergency aid to nonpublic schools and families be included in the next Covid-19 Legislation package. Our requests include equitable access to K-12 federal funds for nonpublic schools, direct support to families for tuition assistance and additional tax breaks for K-12 tuition payments.

As always, we encourage you to include your personal story in the message to your legislators, as well.

Our nonpublic schools and the families they serve should be included in the COVID-19 relief legislation. Make your voice heard by contacting your Congressional members today. Thank you for your advocacy!

Additional Resources for 2020 Graduates

I wanted to share two additional resources for 2020 graduates that have been brought to my attention if you are interested in participating.  The first one is directed more at Quad City Graduates, and the second is on a more national scale.  As I said – these are just options, but I wanted to be sure you knew they were available to you.
