Congratulations 2021 SEIBA Selections

Congrats to sophomore Michael Lochner, clarinet, and freshman AJ Barry, euphonium, for being selected to the 2021 Southeast Iowa Bandmasters Association (SEIBA) Honor Band! While the in person festival won’t be held this year, these students prepared and recorded an audition and were judged against other students in the area.

Junior Parents – Looking for Junior Retreat Desserts

We are looking for donations of desserts for the Junior Retreat on Friday, February 5th, at Sacred Heart Cathedral. We are asking for Junior parent volunteers. Dessert donations can be sent with your junior student on the morning of the retreat (Friday, February 5th). If you have a container you would like returned, please remember to label it. If you know what you plan to bring, please put that in the notes on the sign-up.  Thank you so much for your support of our AHS community!

Sophomore Parents- Catholic Schools Week Teacher Luncheon – February 3rd

During Catholic Schools Week, Knight Network will provide lunch for our faculty and staff on Wednesday, February 3rd. We are asking help from Sophomore parents for this event. Knight Network funds will be used to purchase lunch, but we are asking for donations of water and desserts. They can be dropped off in the Assumption Front Office Tuesday, February 2nd, between 7:30 and 3:30 or Wednesday morning after 7:30 a.m. Thanks so much for your help and support of our hard-working school employees through the Knight Network parent organization!

Graduation Announcements – Orders Due by February 1, 2021

Please see the below attachment regarding ordering 2021 Graduation Announcements.  These need to be ordered by February 1st.

Your student’s cap and gown order will be placed through the school, you do not need to order those! Please remind your students to go to the link sent out by Mrs. Murphy to fill out the informaton on cap and gown and diploma information.

Loyola University Chicago – Half Tuition Scholarship

Loyola University Chicago is pleased to offer the Jesuit, B.V.M., Sisters of Christian Charity Half-Tuition Scholarship for a new freshman entering in the fall of 2025.  This scholarship is valued at HALF TUITION for four years of consecutive full time enrollment.

One student from Assumption planning to attend Loyola University Chicago will receive this scholarship.  The nomination is based upon a combination of the candidate’s academic achievements, service, and leadership.  Students interested in being nominated must meet the following criteria.

Scholarship Criteria:

  • Must be admitted to Loyola University by February 1st.
  • 3.0 cumulative grade point average based on a 4.0 system.
  • Involvement in activities that exemplify a commitment to the Jesuit philosophy of service and education.

If the nominee has been awarded a merit-based scholarship by Loyola University Chicago, the Jesuit, B.V.M., Sisters of Christian Charity Half-Tuition Scholarship will replace the previous award, it cannot be added to it.

The scholarship recipient will be required to maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 and complete a minimum of 20 hours of community service each semester while at Loyola University Chicago.

Submit a resume and an essay to Student Services by February 1st answering the following:

WHY I WANT TO ATTEND LOYOLA AND WOULD BE A WORTHY RECIPIENT OF THIS SCHOLARSHIP.

Students will be interviewed by a committee prior to final selection.
